What is SQLite FTS5?
Short answer FTS5 is SQLite’s full-text search extension. It is a virtual table module: you create a table with CREATE VIRTUAL TABLE ... USING fts5(...), insert text into it like any other table, and query it with the MATCH operator instead of LIKE. Under the hood, FTS5 tokenizes the text and builds an inverted index from a set of b-trees. It can rank results by relevance with its built-in BM25 function, extract matching snippets, and highlight matched terms.
